Books Built from Lived Experience

These books were written by SILI founder and human trafficking survivor Sheri Lopez, with insight and input from other survivors.

Created from lived experience, each book provides practical, survivor-informed education on grooming, exploitation, personal safety, and prevention.

Read, listen, or switch between both—at home or on the go with the Teachable app.

More than books, they are tools to build awareness, start conversations, and help people recognize what they might otherwise miss.

Survivor-led. Written with purpose. Created for prevention.

Don’t Go With Them

A Teen and Parent Guide to Staying Safe from Online Predators
What if the biggest danger isn’t a stranger in a dark alley, but someone in your phone?

Every day, teens are targeted online by people offering attention, friendship, love, or opportunity. Don’t Go With Them helps teens understand how grooming can begin long before exploitation occurs.

Written by human trafficking survivor Sheri Lopez, this book uses real talk, not scare tactics, to explain how predators build trust, manipulate emotions, cross boundaries, and use social media, gaming, messaging, and other online spaces to gain access.

Teens will learn warning signs to watch for, why something that feels “too good to be true” may be a concern, and what to do when an online interaction doesn’t feel right.

Includes a Parent Safety Guide with conversation starters, warning signs, and practical tools.

Because it doesn’t start with trafficking. It starts with attention.

The Realities of Being Trafficked: A Survivor’s Story

Six thousand times. Six thousand buyers. Six thousand memories Sheri Lopez has carried with her for decades.

In 6,000, Sheri shares the painful reality of being sold again and again during more than seven years of trafficking.

She remembers the men, women, and couples who bought access to her—and the ways they justified what they were doing. Some convinced themselves she wanted to be there. Some chose not to ask questions. Others simply looked away from what was right in front of them.

This is not a story about statistics. It is about the human being behind every transaction—and the memories that remain long after the buyer walks away.

They may have forgotten her. She remembers.

No Church Is Immune, is a call for churches to recognize that grooming, exploitation, and human trafficking do not stop at the church doors.

Churches should be places of safety, but trust, access, vulnerability, and a desire to help can also create opportunities for grooming to go unnoticed. This book equips pastors, ministry leaders, staff, and volunteers to recognize warning signs, strengthen safeguards, listen to survivors, and respond with wisdom and compassion.

The Church has an opportunity to lead in prevention, not only responding after someone has been exploited, but recognizing what can happen before.

No church is immune. Every church can be informed, prepared, and committed to protecting the vulnerable.
